About Us

Hi, I’m Ed! My journey with Portuguese cuisine didn't start in a professional culinary school, but in the heart of the home—inspired by the rich traditions of my heritage and the soulful flavors of the Atlantic coast. Since 2015, my wife and I have been on a mission to collect, preserve, and share authentic Portuguese flavors with a global community of food lovers.

Why We Started This Site

What began as a passion project over 10 years ago has grown into a dedicated resource for home cooks and curious foodies. We noticed that many traditional recipes were getting lost or becoming overly commercialized, losing the tempero (seasoning) that makes them special.

We created this Q&A space because we believe the best way to preserve heritage is through conversation. We wanted a place where the focus remains on honesty, heritage, and the joy of a shared meal. When we say we in our posts, we are referring to the small circle of family and friends who help us meticulously test and refine these dishes. Our goal is to ensure every Caldo Verde or Bacalhau dish tastes exactly as it would in a family kitchen in Lisbon or the cobblestone streets of the Azores.

Our Values & Transparency

  • Respect for Creators: The culinary world is built on community. We do our absolute best to credit the original authors or inspirations behind our recipes. We are here to celebrate the creativity of the food community, never to claim it as our own.

  • Recipe Integrity: Every recipe featured here is tested in our home kitchen using accessible ingredients. We provide measurements in both metric and imperial units to help cooks everywhere succeed.

  • Community Knowledge: This site thrives on your questions and shared experiences. Whether you are a seasoned chef or a beginner, your voice helps keep these traditions alive.

We hope these recipes and discussions help you create lasting memories around your own table.

Happy cooking, happy eating, and God bless!

— Ed
